News Poker.se reports live from the Swedish Poker Championships

One of Sweden’s biggest poker events of the year takes place 1st - 6th of June; Casino Cosmopol in Stockholm hosts The Swedish Championships of Poker. Besides crowning a champion in the Main Event, official events in Shorthanded Texas Hold'em and Pot Limit Omaha will be held.

The tournaments are open to players over 21 years who are Swedish citizens and/or permanent residents of Sweden. The cost of playing in the main event is SEK 11,000.

The reigning Swedish champion of poker is the professional player Michael Tureniec, who received SEK 635,000 for his 2016 victory, after beating Nicklas Kley heads-up in a 273 man strong field. Tureniec, one of Sweden's most successful tournament players of all time, followed up the performance by taking home a bracelet in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas that summer.

In this year's starting field in the championships, Svenska Spel's ambassador Simon "Dybban" Lindell, Christmas Poker Week winner Per Andersson and famous comedian Magnus Betnér are all featured. All three are bloggers on Poker.se - have a read at poker.se/proffsbloggar.
